When to Start a Child Cross-Country Skiing
Kids can start cross-country skiing as early as age 1-2
-- if using the Kiddie Ski Bar/XC and Tip Lock (see
KID-SKI/XC Teaching Aids) with the KID-SKI/XC Happy Skis
(plastic skis & bindings). Prior to age 3, kids'
feet are usually not big enough to fit into regular X-C
ski boots, so plastic skis and bindings are the way to go
(see KID-SKI/XC Happy Skis), using regular snow
boots -- not X-C ski boots.
At around age 3-4, kids can start using regular 100 cm
X-C skis, boots and poles -- all available on this
website.
